About Us

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Virginia is called to cultivate healthy congregations and engage individuals and churches in life transforming ministries. We are passionate about nurturing and forming faith in Jesus Christ, connecting Christ-followers to one another and to CBF’s global mission and ministry, engaging students and adults in mission experiences, and renewing God’s world through partnership and collaboration.

CBFVA’s vision is evident in these four priorities:

CBFVA is a network of congregations and individuals. Connections are essential to building our Fellowship. We bring like-minded Baptists together, link people in our network to helpful resources, introduce folks in Virginia to the broader CBF family, and encourage experiences that build relationship and beloved community.

CBFVA is committed to shaping and forming faith in Jesus Christ for the sake of the world. We believe congregational health and vitality are tied to intentional efforts to help people embody the values and convictions of Jesus. We create experiences that awaken consciousness about best practices for cultivating vital faith expressed in love, grace, compassion, and mercy.

CBFVA is committed to cultivating holistic mission efforts in Virginia and around the globe. Our passion is to serve “the least of these,” transform lives and communities, and influence how we view others and the world.

Like CBF Global, CBFVA is committed to “partnering to renew God’s world.” Our broken world needs repair and renewal. We join hands with other like-minded people of faith to bring healing and wholeness through peace, justice, and advocacy efforts.

CBF Virginia Staff

Terry Maples, Field Coordinator

Terry Maples grew up in North Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1979 with a B.S. in Accounting and in 1983 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Religious Education. Terry is married to Joan and they have two grown children, Andrew and Anna.

Terry became Field Coordinator for CBF Virginia on February 1, 2016, after serving in a similar role with Tennessee CBF. He served as educator in three congregations in Florida and Virginia, including almost 20 years at Huguenot Road Baptist Church in Richmond and five years at Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield. Terry has also served as adjunct faculty at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.

Terry’s passion is helping individuals and congregations discover and live into God’s unique calling. He has strong convictions about helping churches form and nurture vital faith that results in transformed lives and ministry to the least of these.

Mark Snipes, Missions Coordinator

Mark Snipes grew up in the north Georgia Mountains. He graduated from the Shorter College in 2003 with a B.S. in Philosophy and in 2007 from the McAfee School of Theology with a Master of Divinity. Mark is married to Katye and they have two children, Parker and Jackson.

Mark became the Missions Coordinator for CBF Virginia on October 1, 2013, after serving as an Associate Pastor at Central Baptist Church in North Chesterfield, VA. He served previously as a Youth Minister at Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock Georgia. Before coming on full time with CBFVA, Mark worked on a contract basis with the organization for over three years.

Mark’s passion is helping churches and individuals live into God’s call to be the gospel to the world around them.

Hailee Miller, Office and Communications Manager

Hailee is a product of the Fellowship family. She is a Richmond native and grew up at Central Baptist Church—she and her husband are still active there. Mark Snipes was her youth minister, and Hailee served as a student intern for Mission Madness. One of the reasons Hailee applied for this position is because she feels called to “do something more” with her life, i.e. work that is faith-focused.

Hailee received her B.S. degree from Longwood University in 2016. Since graduation, she has worked as Executive Assistant/Office Manager at Cross Creek Nursery where she managed a payroll of 120 people.
