Williamsburg Baptist Church, VA

Position: Office Administrator (FT)

Scope and Objectives
The Office Administrator (OA) works with Senior Pastor, WBC staff and WBC congregation. The OA maintains and runs the church office, does all bookkeeping and coordinates most church communications. This position requires multi-tasking and a welcoming attitude towards office visitors, callers, volunteers and others. The OA must be able to work independently with little supervision.

Supervision
• The Office Administrator serves under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Responsibilities
• Office Administration
o Receptionist duties: handles daily walk-ins, phones and email.
o Update church calendar, forms and files.
o General clerical duties (including, the church directory, recording Sunday attendance, making copies, handling mass mailings, etc.)
o Maintain church calendar for all meetings and prepare necessary paperwork
o Box and store previous year files; Prepare files for upcoming year
o Oversee and coordinate parking space rental as well as parking lot use for special events (ie. William and Mary football games and Grand Illumination)
o Oversee and coordinate building usage (scheduling and contracts)
o Run background checks and prepare new hire paperwork for all new hires.
• Communications
o Coordinates and edits all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual electronic and print publications
 With the guidance of the Senior Pastor, produce and distribute the Order of Service
 Weekly E-news and Prayer request
 Update Bulletin Boards
 Book of Reports
o Run reports and enter into Realm
o Maintain and update the WBC website
o Maintain and coordinate the WBC Zoom account
• Bookkeeping
o Record and deposit all contributions and other income
 Balance monthly bank statements and reconcile to Realm
o Pay all bills
 Coordinate with approved check signers to ensure checks are signed and remitted on a timely basis
o Bi-monthly submit all payroll for processing and record entries
o Reconciles bank statements, post journal entries and generate reports for end of month posting.
 Correct any errors identified by the Treasurer and update Realm as needed.
 Produce monthly financial reports from the Realm system for Treasurer’s review prior to the monthly Administration Council meeting.
• Provide copies of the monthly Financial Report for the Administration Council members.
o Prepare journal entries and reports for end of year closing.
o Print and send contribution statements
o Prepare and send 1099’s
o In conjunction with the Treasurer, maintain well-organized financial files
 The Office Administrator may only provide financial giving information to the Treasurer and the Chair of Stewardship, after they have signed a confidentiality agreement.

Williamsburg Baptist Church, VA

Position: Organist/Choir Director (PT)

Position Title: Organist/Choir Director
Employment Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (10-15 hours per week); 12 month.
Benefits: This position is not eligible for WBC benefits (leave, health insurance, retirement).
Two weeks of unpaid vacation time may be taken yearly.
Salary: $15,000.00 paid bi-monthly.
Scope and Objectives
 The Organist/Choir Director is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering solo, choral,
organ, and other instrumental music for Sunday worship services and occasional special
services (for example, Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday or Good Friday) in coordination
with the Pastor as necessary.
Supervision
 The Organist/Choir Director serves under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor in
cooperation with the Worship Council’s Music Coordinator.
Work Schedule:
 Sunday mornings from 9:15 am – 12:15 pm; weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings
from 7:30 to 9:00pm.
 Time commitment for this position is defined as ten to fifteen hours per week, it is understood
that only a portion of this time will be spent at the church (worship services, choir practice,
etc.), with the remainder being spent outside the church in such tasks as necessary
(preparation, practice, etc.) to satisfactorily fulfill the requirements of the position.
 Any additional services will be coordinated by the Senior Pastor, Worship Council and the
Worship Council’s Music Coordinator.
Responsibilities
 Provide music opportunities that are earnestly prepared, theologically sound, appropriate to the
lives of individuals and the times, and well delivered.
 Conduct weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00pm.
 Oversee the recruitment and supervision of Choral Scholars, in conjunction with the Worship
Council’s Music Coordinator.
 Lend support to exploring new styles and contributions to worship.
 Attend monthly Worship Council meetings, when possible.
 Arrange and coordinate guest soloists and other musicians in conjunction with the Worship
Council’s Music Coordinator.
 Arrange for a substitute during absences in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and Worship
Council’s Music Coordinator and other appropriate church staff and organization.
 Ensure that the organ and pianos in the Sanctuary and South Wing are maintained properly.
The organ is a Petty-Madden 3-manual, 24-rank pipe organ; the sanctuary piano is a Steinway
5’7” Model M Studio Grand.
◦ Conduct a visual and functional inspection of the organ and pianos monthly.
◦ Provide pro-active, preventative maintenance suggestions to the Worship Council’s Music
Coordinator.
 Ensure that all copyrighted music printed for congregational use and/or streamed during
weekly worship or other services (weddings, funerals, etc.) is reported to the appropriate
copyright licensing services (OneLicense or CCLI) and acknowledged in the service bulletin.
Minimum Qualifications
 Proficiency and requisite training in both organ and piano at an appropriate level for our music
program.
 Proficiency with one or more music scoring/editing/transposition software programs, such as
Dorico, SmartScore, and/or Musescore.
 Experience in choral conducting and choir leadership.
 Experience in leading congregational singing and in choir and solo accompaniment.
 Familiarity with a variety of hymns and choral repertoire for the church year.
 Willingness to engage people positively and accept constructive criticism.

Position: Pastoral Resident (FT)

Second Baptist Church seeks to hire a full-time Pastoral Resident to serve and learn with our congregation for 2-3 years, beginning in late August 2025.

The Pastoral Resident will benefit from a nurturing community at Second Baptist, spending focused time during their residency learning to be a Senior Pastor in ministry as they gain experience in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, administration, and congregational organization. The Resident will also be given opportunities to lead in baptisms, weddings, funerals, family dedications, communion, and other pastoral duties such as coordinating care ministries for the congregation.

The Pastoral Resident should have earned a Master of Divinity degree, will be a somewhat recent seminary graduate, will sense a call to serve as a Senior Pastor, and will have demonstrated the giftedness to excel in this calling. The Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) is seeking an Executive Director/Treasurer (ED/T) to lead the 150-year-old organization into a changing future. The mission of WMUV is to equip and inspire churches to be on mission with God. WMUV affirms Christ’s call on a woman’s life, a missional response to the world’s needs, and the development of missional leaders.

The ED/T will provide visionary leadership, strategic development and oversight for all WMUV operations. Under the authority and direction of the Board of Trustees, the ED/T assumes responsibility for day-to-day operations of the organization. This includes but is not limited to financial and personnel management, implementation of assigned policies and regulations of WMUV, corporate compliance of records, legal documents, agreements and contracts. The ED/T is responsible for facilitating planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of ministries and programs. The ED/T will develop relationships with and be accountable to the Board of Trustees. The ED/T will possess good communication skills and will act as the public face of WMUV and will nurture relationships with key partners in ministry. The ED/T will promote awareness, network, and engage in speaking opportunities to further the WMUV mission.

The ED/T shall profess a personal relationship with Christ and a faith that is evident in congregational involvement, and workplace behavior and attitude. The ED/T shall demonstrate high character and integrity, be capable of effective and respectful interaction across diverse theological and interpersonal perspectives, be able to exhibit humility and competence concurrently, and be a proven leader. The ED/T shall work for Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia and will not engage in other business ventures or advocate for such outside of the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

Position: Project Director (PT)

Yaupon Place is an innovative site of integration for Union Presbyterian Seminary’s core values of social and ecological justice-seeking and community engagement. Yaupon Place is on the seminary’s Westwood tract, which contains a walking track, playground, labyrinth, and diverse and numerous trees. Yaupon Place hosts perhaps the most vibrant and active intergenerational and interracial recreational activity in Richmond. Building on UPSem’s history of serving our diverse neighbors in Richmond through recreational ministry, Yaupon Place is a public ministry innovation that engages the seminary community, our neighbors, and community partners. One of the primary partners is Shalom Farms, which runs a thriving farm on the seminary’s Westwood tract, adjacent to Yaupon Place (the park area).

This is a part-time position (averages 10 hours/week) whose work is overseen by the Vice President for Strategy and Institutional Effectiveness. The schedule for the programming director would be somewhat flexible, but also depend on upcoming events and programming needs at any given time.
