Make plans now to participate in this year’s CBFVA General Assembly. The theme for 2018-2019 is Seeking Transformation which is also the focus of our gathering. We have invited Mark Tidsworth, President of Pinnacle Leadership Associates, to be our keynote presenter. Mark is a frequent speaker, leadership coach, and congregational consultant. His book Shift: Three Big Moves for the 21st Century Church describes a process of letting go of old paradigms and shifting to a hopeful future. Mark encourages what he considers three essential shifts (to be addressed during our General Assembly): from member identity to disciple identity, from attractional church to missional church, and from consumer church to sacred partnering. We believe this gathering is an important way to kick-off our yearlong focus on congregational transformation. You will be given opportunity to dialogue around tables with Mark and with others.
Worship during this year’s General Assembly will be especially meaningful. Because Charlottesville was the site of last year’s white supremacist march and subsequent violence, worship includes a time of lament and proclamation by Dr. Harry Rowland, Associate Coordinator of Congregations and Leadership for CBF Global.
Reserve Tuesday, September 18, 2018, so you can engage in this time of learning, interaction, fellowship, and sharing.
