The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship now offers three additional ways for you to partner in the transformation of God’s world through investment in one of three giving plans. The plans focus on ministry and mission partnership with CBF and CBF of Virginia, support for CBF Virginia’s Theological Education Fund that educates lay leadership and provides opportunities for clergy to learn while serving, as well as support for historic Baptist organizations.

Our giving plans offer flexible options to support the missions and ministries that matter most to you. Each plan allocates funds to key areas, including local outreach, missions, and theological education. Select the plan that aligns with your church’s priorities, ensuring your contributions make the greatest impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is CBFVA offering these giving plans?

Coming out of the pandemic, churches are thinking more intentionally about where their mission money goes. These options provide congregations a distinctly Baptist choice that aligns with their mission and values.

How can we best share this information with our church?

The key information provided on this webpage is also available in booklet form, which can be ordered and shared with your church leadership. While the content is the same, the booklet offers a convenient format for review or discussion in meetings. Our goal is to provide churches substantive information anticipating that pastors and leadership teams would customize the messaging. Churches know best about what is most important to their members.

Contact us to request copies and use them as a resource for your congregation’s decision-making process.

Which partners will receive the money CBFVA sends?

Partnership is a core value at CBFVA. Therefore, as Baptists, partnerships are at the core of who we are and what we do. We are better together! When you give, you will support partners like the Baptist Joint Committee, Baptist Women In Ministry, Baptist News Global and Field Personnel like Jenny Jenkins, Jessica and Joshua Hearne, and Greg and Sue Smith! CBFVA provides a diverse portfolio of partnerships. Your gifts will make a difference in your local community, in the Commonwealth, in the United States and around the world. Likewise, while CBFVA cannot create separate plans for every church, we will work with each church to select the right giving plan for you.

When the budget grows, will there be changes to CBFVA's priorities?

CBFVA remains committed to advocacy, partnerships, and theological education. As our budget grows, we’ll expand our presence and connections across the Commonwealth while maintaining these core pillars.

The Church has the mission to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world. We are to do that in a way that actually addresses the needs of people-in a way that is good news to the people receiving it—in a way that exalts and honors Jesus Christ. However, while one particular church can and should make some headway, it can’t do it all. This is where a partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is so important to me and to our church. We support CBF because it allows us to go further and farther in our God-given mission of sharing the Gospel of Christ. Being part of CBF’s worldwide reach with the Gospel is part of our strategy to accomplish our mission.

Juan Garcia

CBF Moderator, Pastor, Primera Iglesia Bautista, Newport News, VA

University Baptist Church appreciates the space CBF gives to be the people God has called us to be, to shine the light of Christ in the world, and to share God’s grace and peace in our space and around the world. By joining with other Fellowship churches, we are able to do more together than we could by ourselves.

When we hosted a CBF Virginia Youth Summit with 300 students, we were able to see how God is working through CBF to form young people. We have a personal connection with CBF field personnel, Scarlette Jasper, just as we did with Paula Settle for many years. These personal connections are what being a missional church means to us.

By putting CBF in our budget, we make being a Fellowship church part of who we are.

Matt Tennant

Senior Pastor, University Baptist Church, Charlottesville, VA

Since college, CBF has been a part of my life through opportunities to serve with CBF partner organizations (like Passport), attend a partner seminary (Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond) and minister with field personnel stateside and overseas. All of these opportunities and more have shaped and defined my call. I am grateful that early on CBF gave women a voice and a place of leadership.

The vast body of the Fellowship has made my own journey in ministry one in which I have felt called, affirmed and challenged.
It is through my connections with Passport and BTSR that I have had the opportunities to network within the life of CBF. Whether it was serving on a committee, leadership with CBF Youth Ministry Network, serving with CBFVA leadership, planning a retreat, or being creative with my own CBF Peer Learning Group during the pandemic to plan events in our city for our students, I view the network of CBF as one of its greatest resources and gifts of my connection to CBF.

The congregation I serve, River Road Church, Baptist readily uses CBF literature, resources, and the diverseness of the body of believers within CBF to educate itself on the needs of the world. The congregation seeks to be one of action and solution as we share the Gospel message to all. We give to CBF so that we can continue to sustain ministries of healing, hope and justice in this world.
