Yates Baptist Church, NC
Position: Minister of Youth, Children, and Adult Discipleship (FT)
Yates Baptist Church in Durham, NC, is seeking a full-time Minister of Children, Students and Adult Discipleship. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of ministry programs that nurture the faith development of children, youth and adults.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
– Planning and implementation of all programming for children and students.
– Working well with ministerial staff to create, evaluate, and implement the church’s vision for the children and youth ministries.
– Developing annual budgets for children and youth ministries for submission to the Finance Committee with input from both the Children’s and Youth Advisory Committees.
– Effectively managing expenses throughout the year within the approved budget.
– Maintaining good communication with parents.
– Assisting Adult Sunday School classes with literature selection and ordering as necessary.
– Recruiting teachers for Sunday School classes.
– Planning and implementation of events for Senior Adults.
This position will report to the Senior Pastor of Yates Baptist Church.
Salary and Benefits Package: Up to $65,000 depending on education and experience.
Qualifications:
– Individual of proven Christian Character.
– Effective teacher of children using age-appropriate teaching methods.
– Strong organizational skills in planning, administration and budget management.
– Demonstrated skills in creating effective in-reach and outreach programs.
– Master’s Degree with a focus on children’s and students’ ministry from an academically accredited seminary or divinity program OR Bachelor’s degree and at least three years ministerial experience.

Position: Children’s Pastor (FT)
About the Church

About the Ministry
The children’s ministry serves 122 children, from birth through 5th grade, with a weekly average participation of 50. The ministry has a tradition of strong weekly programs, including Sunday School and Children’s Worship, and popular special events like VBS and Advent Breakfast. A hallmark of the ministry is InJoy, a special needs ministry designed to be inclusive, adaptive, and supportive. The ministry is financially well-resourced and blessed with dedicated volunteers.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate possesses strong spiritual and relational warmth paired with emotional maturity. They are a systems-minded leader who can build a sustainable program and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and parents. They need a growth mindset and an understanding of privileged culture, being comfortable around the wealth in the community, while providing leadership that helps families find a healthier balance.
Key Responsibilities
– Vision & Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic vision for children’s ministry aligned with the mission and values of Johns Creek Baptist Church. Model spiritual maturity, pastoral care, and integrity.
– Volunteer Development: Identify, recruit, train, and support adult volunteers who serve within the children’s ministry. Equip volunteers with the tools and encouragement needed.
– Program Management: Plan, organize, and implement programs (birth through 5th grade) that address the spiritual, developmental, and social needs of children. Oversee major components like Sunday School, VBS, and Children’s Choirs.
– Preschool Partnership: Serve as the primary pastoral liaison to the JCBC Weekday Preschool Program. Coordinate closely with the Preschool Director.
– Administration & Collaboration: Prepare and manage the annual children’s ministry budget. Participate actively in weekly staff meetings. Collaborate with staff to ensure cohesion in faith formation across age groups.
Qualifications
Master’s-level theological degree preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in congregational ministry within Baptist life.
Thorough understanding of child development—physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.
Demonstrated ability to teach and nurture faith with children.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Together for Hope Appalachia
Position: TFH Appalachia Director of Programs & Partnerships
Position Objective: The responsibilities of the Director of Programs and Partnerships for Together for Hope’s Appalachia Region are to assist with day-to-day organizational functions and tasks; assist with the recruitment and management of the churches, towns, nonprofits, and other partners in Together for Hope Appalachia’s Rural Development Coalition; assist with the creation and management of all Together for Hope Appalachia programs; assist in creating and managing strategic partnerships in states and across the region; assist with grant applications, management and reporting; and manage office services by implementing administrative systems, procedures, and policies.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit management or community organizing and a knowledge and affinity for Appalachia. The salary will ultimately be negotiated along with a package that includes: Healthcare, Retirement, PTO and Business Travel. Position: Youth Pastor (FT)

About the Ministry
The youth ministry serves students from 6th through 12th grades. There are currently 56 youth on the rolls, with about 25 participating in a typical week. The ministry has strong traditions in its Sunday school and Sunday night grow groups, and retreats are a core component. The ministry benefits from a dedicated space that is attractive, well-maintained, and includes youth-friendly furniture, games, and a dedicated worship space.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate demonstrates a sincere love for youth, has a “growth mindset”, and high emotional intelligence. JCBC is looking for a proactive, self-starting team player who can think strategically and build sustainable systems, not just a “pied piper”.
Key Responsibilities
– Vision & Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan for youth ministry, providing leadership and oversight for all programming while modeling spiritual maturity and pastoral care.
– Volunteer & Team Development: Recruit, equip, train, and supervise adult volunteers and a Ministry Assistant, while partnering with the Youth Council to implement the ministry vision.
– Program Management: Ensure the continuation and spiritual focus of all youth programming (weekly, retreats, mission trips) through volunteer leadership, while maintaining accurate records and communication.
– Family & Congregational Integration: Partner with parents as primary faith influencers and integrate youth into the broader congregational life through intergenerational ministry and collaboration with other staff.

Qualifications
– Master’s-level theological degree or higher from an accredited institution preferred.
– Minimum of three years of experience in congregational ministry.

Overview
We are a warm congregation of about 100 active participants with a deep love for congregational song and thoughtful worship. We worship in a style that blends the richness of traditional hymns with the accessibility of modern praise music. We are seeking a Worship Music Leader who loves the Church, values collaboration, and is eager to help cultivate a worship life that is grounded, joyful, and rooted in the movement of the Spirit.
Responsibilities
• Lead congregational singing each Sunday with clarity and pastoral sensitivity.
• Plan worship music collaboratively with the pastor and other staff, choosing songs that support the Scripture, sermon theme, and seasonal rhythms of the church year.
• Coordinate and rehearse special music weekly, working with volunteer soloists, ensembles, or a praise team as available.
• Encourage and develop volunteer musicians, nurturing both their musical gifts and their spiritual lives.
• Communicate clearly with pastoral staff, accompanist, and tech volunteers.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
• Is a capable vocalist and/or instrumentalist and comfortable leading a congregation.
• Has experience planning or leading worship in a church setting.

• Is organized, communicative, and enjoys working with volunteers.
• Resonates with a theologically thoughtful, grace-centered ethos.
Formal degrees are appreciated but not required. Heart, skill, and spiritual maturity are what we value most.
Hours & Expectations
10–15 hours per week, including:

o Weekday rehearsal
o Planning and communication time
• Consistent weekly presence
• Works in close partnership with the pastor and other staff.
