Manly Memorial Baptist Church, VA

Position: Associate Pastor (FT)

Manly Memorial Baptist Church is a thriving and growing ministry in Lexington, Virginia, “the
youngest municipality in the United States,” and is bringing people closer to one another and
closer to Jesus. This is a positive, healthy environment in which one may grow in leadership and

Church Ministry Responsibilities Include:
Worship
1. Ensure that Nursery and Hall Monitors are staffed during the worship hour.
2. Advocate for participation and leadership of students in worship, including collecting
offerings, leading prayers, etc.
3. Facilitate the Children’s Moment.
4. Opportunities for preaching may be available.
*MMBC may consider moving back to having Children’s Church during worship, which would
require this pastor’s leadership.
Bible Study Groups
1. Ensure that age-level Sunday School classes are staffed with qualified volunteers who
understand their roles and expectations.
2. Direct curriculum for Youth Bible Study that reflects the theological values of the church.
3. Expand and support small group / bible study ministry.
Wednesday Evenings:
Three Wednesdays a month in the school year, MMBC has “Table Church.” A meal, followed by
30-40 minutes of student programing.
1. Organize volunteers for Nursery and / or a children’s program, such as Children’s Choir.
2. Lead a youth program.
Other Youth Ministries
1. On Sunday afternoons/evenings, the Associate Pastor will run a program for teens that helps
create a Jesus-focused community of rest and belonging.
2. Lead annual Fall and Spring retreat and summer mission camp for youth.
Other Children’s Ministries
1. Lead an overnight summer camp for children.
2. Lead special summer programs for children (one possibility could be VBS).
More
1. Reach out to visitors at worship and church events.
2. Assist with pastoral care visitations.
3. Meet with the pastor weekly.

Outreach
The exact details may vary, but this person will work with MMBC to design half their weekly
schedule in outreach related work that builds bridges to Christ and the Church.
A. “Show up for kids.” Earn a reputation amongst parents and teachers, coaches, and parents
in our community as a trustworthy adult that is good for teens/kids. “Showing up” could
include: attending ball games and concerts of children and teens associated with MMBC,
building relationships with them and also NEW parents and students, helping out community
parents in a pinch, hosting afterschool or before school youth hangouts, or even volunteering
to coach a team.
B. “Bring in families.” Build MMBC’s community reputation as a place for parents and
families by hosting community programs that serve them. Creative ideas could include:
Saturday “Parent’s Night Out” or a mid-week “Play and Stay” for parents and toddlers.

Position: Senior Pastor (FT)

Overview:
The Ministry Assistant supports the Pastor and ministry staff in planning, coordinating, and executing church programs and events focused on college, youth, children, and families. This role combines administrative support with hands-on facilitation of Sunday and midweek ministry activities to create welcoming, age-appropriate experiences that encourage spiritual growth and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sunday Services

Qualifications:

Working Conditions and Schedule:

Job Purpose:

Bon Air Baptist Church, VA

Position: Accountant II (PT)

Immediate Supervisor: Operations Director (DO)

Principal Functions: The Accountant II is responsible for executing general and financial tasks related to the ministries and teams supported by the Operations Director.

Responsibilities:
General
• Utilize membership and accounting software (currently Shelby system)
• Work with DO to maintain the functions and organization of the finance office and its file systems (paper and electronic)
• Prepare general ledger entries for deposits, accounts payable, and other items
• Make payments and process general ledger entries as scheduled
• Run financial reports and prepare financial statements
• Assist DO with bank account reconciliations
• Assist with audits and provide required documentation.
• Develop, implement and maintain financial policies, procedures, internal controls and manual
• Perform analyses, projects, and other duties as assigned by manager

Contributions and Other Income
• Serve on counting team every week
• Process contributions and other income in the membership database and general ledger
• Make all bank deposits once or twice a week
• Keep quarterly envelope database up-to-date and submit quarterly order
• Send donor gift statements five times a year (Quarterly and Year end)

Accounts Payable
• Enter vendor invoices in the accounts payable software (currently Shelby system)
• Process accounts payable
• Reconciliation of credit card statements.
• Prepare payments and ACH transfers for approval
• Process and mail checks as appropriate
• Daily review of positive pay exception notice(s)
• Add new vendors and monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Maintain vendor files and correspond with vendors in a timely manner

Payroll
• Process payroll utilizing on-line system (currently Dominion Payroll)
• Process hours as submitted by facilities staff timecards and weekday school spreadsheet

Year-end closing
• Issue 1099’s
• Record GL accruals

Qualifications
• 3-5 years of accounts payable and general ledger experience. Nonprofit experience a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to pass background check

Salary Range: $28-33 per hour

Key Responsibilities
– Vision & Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic vision for children’s ministry aligned with the mission and values of Johns Creek Baptist Church. Model spiritual maturity, pastoral care, and integrity.
– Volunteer Development: Identify, recruit, train, and support adult volunteers who serve within the children’s ministry. Equip volunteers with the tools and encouragement needed.
– Program Management: Plan, organize, and implement programs (birth through 5th grade) that address the spiritual, developmental, and social needs of children. Oversee major components like Sunday School, VBS, and Children’s Choirs.
– Preschool Partnership: Serve as the primary pastoral liaison to the JCBC Weekday Preschool Program. Coordinate closely with the Preschool Director.
– Administration & Collaboration: Prepare and manage the annual children’s ministry budget. Participate actively in weekly staff meetings. Collaborate with staff to ensure cohesion in faith formation across age groups.

Qualifications
Master’s-level theological degree preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in congregational ministry within Baptist life.
Thorough understanding of child development—physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.
Demonstrated ability to teach and nurture faith with children.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Position: Worship Music Leader (PT)

Overview
We are a warm congregation of about 100 active participants with a deep love for congregational song and thoughtful worship. We worship in a style that blends the richness of traditional hymns with the accessibility of modern praise music. We are seeking a Worship Music Leader who loves the Church, values collaboration, and is eager to help cultivate a worship life that is grounded, joyful, and rooted in the movement of the Spirit.

Responsibilities
• Lead congregational singing each Sunday with clarity and pastoral sensitivity.
• Plan worship music collaboratively with the pastor and other staff, choosing songs that support the Scripture, sermon theme, and seasonal rhythms of the church year.
• Coordinate and rehearse special music weekly, working with volunteer soloists, ensembles, or a praise team as available.
• Encourage and develop volunteer musicians, nurturing both their musical gifts and their spiritual lives.
• Communicate clearly with pastoral staff, accompanist, and tech volunteers.

Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
• Is a capable vocalist and/or instrumentalist and comfortable leading a congregation.
• Has experience planning or leading worship in a church setting.
• Appreciates a blended worship style without being driven by trends.
• Is organized, communicative, and enjoys working with volunteers.
• Resonates with a theologically thoughtful, grace-centered ethos.
Formal degrees are appreciated but not required. Heart, skill, and spiritual maturity are what we value most.

Hours & Expectations
10–15 hours per week, including:
o Sunday morning worship
o Weekday rehearsal
o Planning and communication time
• Consistent weekly presence
• Works in close partnership with the pastor and other staff.
• Attends occasional planning meetings as needed.
